When you have reached your destination for vacation, we are certain that the moment you reach your hotel you would want to take off your shoes and relax. But we highly recommend that before you go for a small nap in your comfy hotel room, take out some time and check out these eight simple things in your hotel room in order to stay safe and secure.

Check For Bed mites

Check For Bed mites
Before you sleep on that deluxe or king-sized bed in your hotel room make sure you have checked it, look for brown stains on the bed-head, mattress and bed frame. Bed bugs are very difficult to be traced in daytime, but they do leave behind brown stains which is basically the blood of their victim. Be certain that you check under the mattress and sheets and see that you don’t find any stains.

Cleanse

Cleanse
When you enter the hotel room we are sure your room looks clean, but it doesn’t mean that it’s clean. Hotel cleaners do clean the bathroom, but they don’t clean the places which are in frequent use of the guest like the remote controls, light switches and door knobs, these are the places from where you can catch germs very easily so use an antibacterial wipe on these things when you are in your hotel room.

Check The Hiding Spots

Check The Hiding Spots
This one is a little alarming, but when you enter your hotel rooms check for the entire hiding spots lie the cupboard, under the bed or the shower. A trespasser could have come in your room before you can and slipped in something very gruesome there. But this is just a safe thought because a few months back Snopes listed a number of real events which happened to some guests where they found some foul odor in their room which was later discovered to be a human body under the bed.

Be Sure About The Temperature Controls

Be Sure About The Temperature Controls
When you reach at your hotel, it’s really essential for you to check the temperature controls it may be working fine temporarily, but at night time when you need to change the temperature and you find out that there is no maintenance staff then you will be stuck so its best you give them a call in the day time and get it fixed.

Remove the Quilt

Remove the Quilt
Most hotels don’t even take out time to wash the bed covers, and if they don’t wash the bed sheets, washing a quilt will be so difficult for them. When you go in your hotel room check the bed sheet and the duvet cover if you find it smelly or dirty, chances are it’s not washed between the guest changes, so its best that you get the bed sheet and quilt changed.

Retune the Alarm Clock

Retune the Alarm Clock
Chances are, that the guest before you in the room has set the alarm for 3:00 am in the morning, make sure that you turn off the alarm clock in your room otherwise you will be wide awake in the middle of the night from an unexpected noise. The best way to set the alarm is use your mobile phone alarm and turn off the bedside alarm clock of your hotel room completely.

Do Not Disturb…Door Sign

Do Not Disturb…Door-Sign
If you don’t want to be disturbed by the room service barging in your room unexpectedly, then we suggest that you use the Do Not Disturb door sign when you enter your room. Just make sure that you remove this door sign in the morning when you leave so that your room does get cleaned.

Read the Fire Escape Map

Read the Fire Escape Map
It’s next to impossible that you will ever need it, but you still need to have a plan in case there is a fire. To make you familiar with the emergency exists – read the fire escape map.
If you follow all these points after you check in to your hotel room, then you will be all good and safe – and as they say prevention is better than cure.
