It’s never been easy for me to save money. I had to train myself to use my money wisely before traveling and I am going to pass those tips on to you. First, make a list of all the places you’d like to travel to and why. From the list, pick the destination that suits your budget. Once you have a destination in mind, do extensive research on the best holiday packages and pick the one that suits your budget.
My biggest vice is probably being addicted to coffee and junk food. I need to eat out at least twice a week and if it were up to me have coffee twice a day from my favorite coffee place. The bills may seem nothing at first but once they’re piled up, they add up to a lot.
I became really strict with myself and only used to go out three or four times a month. Instead of buying coffee from my favorite cafe, I learned how to make delicious coffee by watching tutorials on Youtube. Cutting down on food really helped me save money. More than I thought I would.
Pick travel destinations and holiday packages that fit your budget. Sure, all of us long for a romantic shopping trip to Paris but not all of us can afford it. Opt for somewhere cheaper but just as fun. Think of why you want to go there. Do you want to shop or sight see? Plan your trip according to what you want to do and then take steps to save money according to that. I love shopping, but I love trying new things as well. I like doing the touristy things first and then do a bit of shopping when I go on a holiday.
If you want to spend a little extra on your holiday, find ways to make more money. Take a few extra shifts, or clock in more hours at your day job. There are so many ways to make money on the internet. Do your research and find one that works for you.
One of the most important steps to save money is to stop overspending on unnecessary luxuries. Make a list of everything you want to buy and need to buy. There is such a huge difference in this list. You do not need that new Michael Kors bag, and that money can go toward your travel expenses. Opt for rebates from reputable online retailers. You can always save a little extra by couponing as well.
Get in to saving mode by motivating yourself. Put a picture of your destination on your fridge, use it as desktop background on your laptop, and put a picture of it on your mobile. This will serve as a constant reminder of why you’re trying to cut back on your spending. Take five minutes a day and imagine where you’ll be spending the money you save up once you reach your destination. This will always help you when you’re feeling a little depressed.
